About

zac travis is a media-based artist, musician, designer, and educator whose research is at the intersection of art, technology, science, and the humanities. travis works with images, video, audio, and text using automated processes, algorithms, machine learning, and chance operations. travis intervenes in systems of power dynamics while addressing the sociological influence of digital media and the internet. While collaborating with new and obsolete technologies, he is primarily interested in the ‘anomaly’ that occurs when autonomous and invisible technologies are broken down and made visible.

travis currently lives, creates, and works in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he received his MFA from the University of New Mexico in 2019. In 2014, he received his BFA in Photography from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. travis’s work has been exhibited internationally, including his most recent exhibition, love me love me bot, at Antecámara de Proyectos, Museo de Art de Ciudad Juárez. He has participated in group exhibitions such as Portable Document Format, an online exhibition in conjunction with Doug Aitken’s Electric Earth at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Texas. He is the recipient of the Dallas Museum of Art Awards to Artists.
